The Story
After N.Brio shot down the Cortex Vortex in crash bandicoot 2, pieces of this machine fell everywhere. Unfortunately, one piece managed to release Uka Uka, the evil twin brother of Aku Aku. Uka Uka then meets up with Cortex at N.Tropy's time twister machine, which he states that he is furious with him of failing him. Uka Uka: "No one dares fail the great Uka Uka even once! But you Cortex... you have failed me... TWICE! But, since you're bumbling has managed to set me free, I am feeling... generous." He then gives Cortex one more chance and says that using the machine that can travel back and forward in time, they can gather the crystals and the gems and take over planet Earth!

Meanwhile, Aku Aku says to Crash and Coco that he locked Uka Uka there to protect the earth from destruction and: Aku Aku: now.. free once again. He. Must. Be. Stopped!" He then takes them to the time twister machine and tells Crash and Coco to collect the crystals from the levels by: Aku Aku: "To open a warp portal, simply stand on a button and then jump into the portal. Good Luck" before Cortex and Uka Uka do.

About The Game
Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped is the third game in the crash series and the last in the original trilogy. The game was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony computer entertainment like previous games, and was released in 1998 (and re-released on the Playstation network in 2008). Crash 3 is generally considered to be the best crash game on the PS1, as it built on Crash bandicoot 2's strengths and added new features to the already successful formula. The majority of the new features are also used in sequels after this game.

In Crash Bandicoot 3, the way the levels are organized is very similar to Crash 2. There is 5 warp rooms (plus a secret one) with 5 levels and a boss level each, where you can access any of the 5 levels. But instead of going up and down between warp rooms, the levels are now on one floor. There is also a secret warp room which is activated by collecting 5 relics per level. (see below for items) The level themes are based on different time zones from the Prehistoric period to the Medieval times, right through to the Future. Other level themes include the great wall of china, Arabian, Ancient Egypt, World War 1, the 1930's Bike racing and Atlantis. But an electric barrier gains unaccess to the levels, so you still have to defeat the bosses, which leads me neatly onto the....

...characters. Like Crash Bandicoot 2, there are some new characters added to this game, which some are important characters for future games. The new characters in this game are: Uka Uka, Dr. N. Tropy, Dingodile, Pura and Fake Crash**

Gameplay has also improved in this game, with notably the first time you can play Coco, new vehicles and more stuff. This game has loads more vehicles for Crash (and Coco in certain levels) to play with. Crash can ride a motorbike, a jet submarine, a baby T-rex and a bi-plane. Coco also has a fair amount of Vehicles as well.  Coco can ride a jet-ski, a little tiger called Pura (similar to crash's polar bear in crash 2), a bi-plane and a space fighter against N.gin. You also for two levels of the game, run away from a Triceratops, similar to the boulder levels in the previous games.

In Crash 2, the great thing was there were many moves you could perform with crash, which made the gameplay fun. Well, crash's moves have been improved further because of the addition of super powers. These Super powers, power up an exciting move or gives crash (and coco) extra moves. You win these after you defeat each boss. These powers will improve his body slam, jump, spin attack and running. You can also obtain a fruit bazooka which has unlimited ammo.

The game's items are very similar to the last game's, except the new items are major. The first item is super powers (mentioned above) and the second new item is relics, after you have collected a crystal in a level, then a stopwatch will appear. You need to race through the level to collect a relic. Both of these items improve the game enormously.

Hints and Tips

General Tips

Collecting items: if you have already collected a gem or a crystal in a level, if you die on that level you will still have the item(s) collected.

Spyro the Dragon demo: At the Start Menu, press the following sequence: up up down down left right left right square.

Hidden level Hot Coco: In level 14 Road Crash, about half way through the level there is a strange Alien sign on the left hand side of the road. Knock into it and you will be warped into the secret level hot coco. [Video Link]

Hidden level Eggipus Rex: In level 11 Dino Might, take the yellow gem path until you get chased by the dinosaur. When you come to some pterodactyls, get yourself captured by the second one. (Make sure you don't have any Aku Aku masks) You then will be warped to the secret level. [Video Link]

                           Boss 1 - Tiny Tiger
To defeat this boss, you must run away from tiny before he squashes you. Then, when he gets his fork stuck (1), spin him and tiny will lose a hit point. Avoid the lions (they can be spun) and repeat the process two more times.
                               Boss 2 - Dingodile
Dingodile will start by spitting fireballs into the air. Run round the arena (1) to avoid them. Dingodile will then use his flameflower (2) to roast crash. Keep avoiding these bursts until there is a big enough gap to spin Dingodile. Stand back and he will lose a bar of health. Repeat.
                            Boss 3 - N.Tropy
To win this boss, you need to avoid N.tropy laser blasts and then jump over the psychic wave things. (lol). When he is tired, hop over the platforms and spin him and he will lose a life. Repeat 2 more times.
Boss 5 - Doctor Neo Cortex
For this boss, Avoid the attacks that Aku Uka and Uka Uka fire out - a laser, a spinning tornado and charge blast and avoid Cortex's laser blasts. Then spin him when his shield goes down. Then spin him down the hole that opens up in the middle of the room, three times.

                                                                                    Boss 4 - N.Gin
To defeat N.Gin, fire at the various weapons on the ship, until they blow up. Always destroy the most nasty weapons first before they do real damage and shoot any stray missiles that get in the way. Repeat 14 times!

My Review

Graphics 90% - Not much of an improvement from Crash 2, but still looks great for a ps1 title.

Sound 88% - As like crash 2, the boys over at Mutato Muika have done a great job once again with the soundtrack

Gameplay 96% - With all the features of Crash 2, crash 3 gives the game two more gameplay upgrades - superpowers (which improves some of crash's moves) and time trail mode. (complete a level as fast as possible)

Lifespan 95% - The time trails add to the lifespan hugely, but the secret warps have been removed, so the score is the same.

With all the features of Crash 2 plus some new gameplay features, Crash 3 is defiantly just as fun, maybe the best in the trilogy. 96%
